I have heard it said that there are different “types” of Christians…Faithful and Unfaithful. After much ponderation (I just made that word up, but I think you will get my point) I think that is not the case. Let me explain what I mean.
The word Christian means to be “Christ Like” or a follower of Christ. Once you decide to become a Christian, you obey God’s word and take the necessary steps to wear that title. It becomes a marriage between you and Christ. Just the same as when a man and a woman decide to marry. They take on the title of husband and wife. They become a union. No one wants to be know as an unfaithful husband or unfaithful wife.
Here is another way to look at it…let’s say, you are a member of a club, Costco, Sam’s etc. I am going to use Amazon Prime. When you become a member, you have to log into your account and to reap the benefits Amazon provides for Prime members you have to be an active member, follow the rules and pay your dues. What if you don’t pay your yearly dues? Can you still get free shipping because you were once a member but had become unfaithful? Certainly not. Can you say you are an Amazon Prime member if you have not renewed your membership? Well you can but it will not be true. You still can’t receive the benefits of being a member.
How is being a Christian any different? 1 Corinthians 2:9 states, “…What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him”. That is our reward for being a faithful Christian. That is the magnificent benefits of being a member of Christ’s exclusive club. But what are the membership fees to stay in the Christian club? In John 14:15 Jesus says, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” Then in verse 21 of the same chapter Jesus explains it to the point so no one can misunderstand what He was saying. John 14:21, “Whoever has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who love Me.”
I have come to the conclusion, there is only one “type” of Christian…Faithful. What about you, what do you think? I am just asking.
